A survey conducted by the Social Research Foundation in South Africa found that the formation of a business-friendly coalition government has gained the support of the majority of citizens. The survey showed that support for the coalition is strongest among white respondents, who are generally the wealthiest. However, there is still substantial backing for the populist policies of rival political parties. The coalition government was formed after the African National Congress lost its parliamentary majority for the first time since 1994. The survey also highlighted the need for the coalition to improve fixed investment, economic growth, and job growth in order to maintain support from voters in lower socio-economic strata. The coalition has been endorsed by the country's biggest business lobby groups. [Extracted from the article]
