Burns & McDonnell Progresses Remote Microreactor Design.

Burns & McDonnell, a design-build firm, is working with BWX Technologies Inc. to develop small-scale reactors that can provide thermal and electric power for remote locations. The project, called the BWXT Advanced Nuclear Reactor, involves the engineering of microreactor balance of plant systems. The reactors will use TRISO nuclear fuel, which is more resilient and less likely to release radioactivity in an accident.
