A INTERVENÇÃO DO SERVIÇO SOCIAL NA PROMOÇÃO DOS DIREITOS DIGITAIS E COMBATE ÀS DESIGUALDADES SOCIAIS. (Portuguese)

The consequences of globalization have brought to debate issues related to situations of digital inequalities and the adversities faced by families. Digital inequalities have been conceptualized by some authors, demonstrating the effects they have on people's lives, as well as their human development. This way, the purpose of this communication is to understand the evolution and use of digital technologies in Portugal, reflecting it within the framework of the Objectives of Sustainable Development and Social Service. National and international secondary statistical data were collected and analyzed in order to categorize and understand the evolution of this type of inequalities. On the other hand, based on regulations on Human Rights in the digital age, we aim to explain how Social Services can intervene in the field of existing policies and combat these digital inequalities. We conclude that technology has brought great benefits to contemporary societies, however, we must always take into account the possible dangers it can bring us. Despite living in a globalized and technologically evolved society, we cannot forget that digital inequalities are increasingly embedded in social inequalities in several ways. As consequências provenientes da globalização trouxeram ao debate questões relacionadas com as situações de desigualdades digitais e às adversidades enfrentadas pelas famílias. As desigualdades digitais têm sido conceptualizadas por alguns autores, demonstrando-se os efeitos que acarretam para a vida das pessoas, bem como para o seu desenvolvimento humano. Assim, o objetivo desta comunicação é compreender a evolução e o uso das tecnologias digitais em Portugal, refletindo-a no quadro dos Objetivos do Desenvolvimento Sustentável e do Serviço Social. Foram recolhidos e analisados dados estatísticos secundários nacionais e internacionais, de forma a categorizar e perceber a evolução deste tipo de desigualdades. Por outro lado, com base nos normativos sobre Direitos Humanos na era digital, visamos explicar como o Serviço Social pode intervir no domínio das políticas existentes e no combate a estas desigualdades digitais. Concluímos que a tecnologia trouxe grandes benefícios nas sociedades contemporâneas, não obstante, devemos sempre ter em conta os possíveis perigos que esta nos pode trazer. Apesar de se viver numa sociedade globalizada e evoluída a nível tecnológico, não nos podemos esquecer que as desigualdades digitais estão cada vez mais inseridas nas desigualdades sociais em vários sentidos.
