      The purpose of this essay is to present in a reflexive way, the importance of teacher training as an alternative to integrate the initial and continuous training of teachers at any level of the educational system. Said process requires depth in the theoreticalmethodological level, so that its practice can be qualitatively transformed, in order to satisfy the current didactic and pedagogical needs demanded by education in the 21st century. One of the challenges that must be faced in the educational context is to prepare teachers from permanent training as an organized and continuous process; which constitutes a route for the formation of the professional identity of the teacher, based on the link between initial and continuous training and therefore the process of professional and human improvement of the same.       El propósito de este ensayo es presentar de manera reflexiva, la importancia de la formación docente como alternativa para integrar la formación inicial y continua de los profesores en cualquiera de los niveles del sistema educativo. Dicho proceso requiere profundidad en el plano teórico-metodológico, de manera que pueda transformarse cualitativamente su práctica, con la finalidad de satisfacer las actuales necesidades didácticas y pedagógicas que demanda la educación del siglo XXI. Uno de los retos a los que se debe enfrentar en el contexto educativo, es el de preparar a los docentes a partir de la formación permanente como proceso organizado y continuo; lo cual se constituye en ruta para la formación de la identidad profesional del docente, a partir del vínculo entre la formación inicial y continua y por ende del proceso de mejoramiento profesional y humano de los mismos.
