USDA Composting And Food Waste Reduction Grants Available.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is currently accepting applications for Composting and Food Waste Reduction (CFWR) pilot projects for fiscal year 2024. These projects are aimed at supporting local and tribal governments, schools, and other eligible entities in generating compost, increasing access to compost for agricultural producers, and reducing reliance on fertilizer. The USDA will prioritize projects that demonstrate economic benefits, make compost easily accessible to farmers, and integrate other food waste strategies. Applications are being accepted until September 4, 2024, and projects must have a duration of two years. In 2023, the USDA awarded $11.5 million in 38 cooperative agreements for similar projects.
