Early Enteral Nutrition Support Combined with Health Education Improves Quality of Rehabilitation After Repair of Acute Perforation of Duodenal Ulcers.

Acute perforation is a severe life-threatening complication of duodenal ulcers. During perforation repair surgery, it is necessary to provide patients with enteral nutrition support to ensure their life safety. Herein, we developed and administered a health education form targeted at patients undergoing early enteral nutrition after duodenal ulcer surgery to help them manage the pains associated with enteral nutrition infusion. We found that patients in the research group who received health education combined with early enteral nutrition support had better nutritional status and a significantly reduced risk of malnutrition than patients in the control group after the treatment. Furthermore, patients in the research group had a significantly improved understanding of enteral nutrition support than patients in the control group. However, no significant difference was observed between the groups based on the recovery process and the incidence of adverse reactions. In conclusion, health education combined with early enteral nutrition support can substantially improve the nutritional status of patients and enhance their recovery after the repair of acute perforation of duodenal ulcers.
