The US Supreme Court has declined to review a Maryland law that prohibits semiautomatic assault-style rifles and large-capacity magazines. However, the court has not yet made a decision on a similar Illinois law, leaving open the possibility of future consideration. Gun-rights advocates are seeking to expand on a 2022 Supreme Court ruling that established a strict test for evaluating firearm restrictions.
