Social services.

Social services are programs meant to aid individuals or groups that are disadvantaged, distressed, or vulnerable. These services, which may be private- or government-funded, often serve children, the elderly, people with disabilities, and low-income households. The career of providing such aid is known as social service. In some countries, social services are defined as those programs serving the general population, such as education and health care, while services for vulnerable groups such as the poor or those with disabilities are classified as welfare services.
