An employee of Maximilian Krah, the lead candidate for the far-right AfD party in the European Parliament elections, has been detained in Dresden on suspicion of spying for China. German federal prosecutors believe the man, identified as Jian G., was working for the Chinese secret service and passing on information about negotiations and decisions in the European Parliament. The AfD party is already facing legal pressure, with its head in Thuringia currently on trial for using a Nazi slogan. Support for the AfD has also decreased ahead of the European election.
