A German national has been arrested in Dresden on suspicion of espionage for China. The man, identified as Jian G., is an employee of Maximilian Krah, the lead candidate for the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party in the European Parliament elections. German federal prosecutors allege that Jian G. has been working for the Chinese secret service, passing on information about negotiations and decisions in the European Parliament, as well as spying on Chinese opposition members in Germany. The arrest comes amidst a series of espionage cases in Germany, including individuals suspected of spying for Russia.
