A study for a portrait of Winston Churchill, painted by Graham Sutherland, is going up for auction at Sotheby's. The portrait was commissioned by Parliament for Churchill's 80th birthday but was despised by the prime minister and eventually set on fire. The study, which offers a more intimate portrayal of Churchill, is estimated to sell for £500,000 to £800,000.
