Interactional Competence and Intonation in Teaching German.

Introduction: Since the ultimate purpose of learning a foreign language is to be capable of communicating in that language, the concept of interactional competence is of dire importance in teaching and learning a foreign language. Interactional competence is the ability to use language in different social contexts. Furthermore, as a paralinguis tic code, intonation has a direct influence on the accent of the learner or the so-called foreign accent. Literature Review: Chomsky (1965) introduces performance versus competence. Hymes (1972) broadens competence to include language use in social situations which he calls communicative competence. According to Kramsch (1986), concepts of addressee and communication context are the main factors that differentiate interactional competence from communicative competence. Based on Young (2011), interactional competence includes identity, linguis tic, and interactional resources. Markee (2008) views interactional competence in three elements, namely, a formal sys tem, a semiotic sys tem, and paralinguis tic features. Methodology: This article aims at going from linguis tic and communicative competence to interactional competence that is both context- and interactantdependent, to s tudy intonation in real conversation. To this end, functions of intonation in the German language are introduced and described in the process of reaching interactional competence and maintaining successful communication in this language. Results: In teaching a foreign language, we should engage the learners in social and cultural aspects of the language to improve and develop their interactional skills and reach near-native accents. از آنجا که هدف نهایی از یادگیری زبان دوم، توانایی ایجاد ارتباط در آن زبان است، مفهوم توانش ارتباطی ب همعنای توانایی ب هکارگیری زبان در بافت های اجتماعی مختلف، اهمیت بسزایی در مطالعه پیرامون آموزش و یادگیری زبان دوم دارد. از سوی دیگر، آهنگ ب هعنوان رمزگان پیرازبانی که تأثیر مستقیم بر لحن زبان آموز یا همان لهجه خارجی دارد؛ از جنبه های بسیار مهم در زبان دوم است. ازاین رو در این مقاله سعی بر آن است که با گذار از توانش زبانی و توانش ارتباطی به توانش تعاملی، که همان توانش ارتباطی متکی به مخاطب و بافت است، به نقش آهنگ در ویژگی تعاملی مکالمه بپردازیم. هدف این مقاله معرفی کارکردهای آهنگ در زبان آلمانی و اشاره به نقش این رمزگان در رسیدن به سطح توانش تعاملی برای ایجاد ارتباط موفق در این زبان است. در تدریس زبان خارجی باید حساسیت زبان آموز را به جنبه های اجتماعی-فرهنگی برانگیخت تا مهارت های تعاملی وی گسترش پیدا کند.
