In view of the large-scale use of antiviral drugs and the retention of drug residues and metabolites in natural water environment, potential risks of antiviral drugs to ecology environment are explored from the aspects of drug metabolism, environmental transformation, and their removal effects in sewage treatment. Single or combined treatment systems of membrane bioreactors, activated sludge processes, chlorination disinfection, ozone oxidation, and stabilization tanks are compared. The review removal rate of antiviral drugs in sewage treatment plants in different regions and different progress in research of removing antiviral drugs and proposes preventive measures and coping strategies for antiviral drugs are summarized.
