Protests have erupted in Mozambique following the National Election Commission's approval of the preliminary results of the October 11th municipal elections, in which the ruling Frelimo party won 64 out of 65 districts. The opposition party, Renamo, claims that there was widespread fraud and manipulation in the elections, and has called for peaceful protests and a boycott of parliamentary activities. The Constitutional Council is reviewing the polls and has ordered a recount in the city of Quelimane. The international community has been criticized for their weak response to the alleged rigging. The final ruling on the electoral results is expected to be announced on November 24th. [Extracted from the article]
