A report by Ofcom, the UK's communication services regulator, has revealed the online habits of young people. The report found that almost all children surveyed had visited a social media service, with Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube being the most popular platforms among eight to 12-year-olds. The use of artificial intelligence (AI) was also surveyed, with 40% of seven to 12-year-olds saying they had used generative AI tools, such as Snapchat My AI. Roblox was found to be the most popular gaming app among children, with girls spending more time on average playing it each day than boys. The report also highlighted that online safety is a priority, with 91% of young people having spoken to someone about using the internet safely and children taking their own measures, such as making their accounts private and not sharing personal information. The report also noted that 57% of children aged three to 15 play games online, and AI tools are becoming increasingly popular. [Extracted from the article]
