The Extent to which Government School Principals Practise Educational Planning Skills and its Relationship with the Quality of Teachers’ Job Performance in Ad Dakhiliyah Governorate in Sultanate of Oman.

Objectives: The current study aimed to identify the extent to which government school principals practised educational planning skills and its relationship with the quality of teachers’ job performance in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate in Sultanate of Oman. Methods: To achieve the objectives of the study, the descriptive correlative method was followed, and a questionnaire was used to collect data. The validity and reliability of the data collection tool was checked. The questionnaire was given to a sample of 404 male and female teachers of grades 5 to 9 in primary schools in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate in Sultanate of Oman. Results: The main finding of the study was that the extent to which government school principals practised educational planning skills in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate in Sultanate of Oman was moderate. Also, the study revealed statistically significant differences in the sample’s estimates of the extent to which government school principals practised educational planning skills in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate in Sultanate of Oman which were attributed to the gender variable in favour of the female teachers. There were also statistically significant differences in all topics of educational planning attributed to the variable of the years of experience in favour of the plus 16-years-of-experience group. In addition, there were no statistically significant differences in the sample’s estimates of the extent to which government school principals practised educational planning skills in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate in Sultanate of Oman which were attributed to the variable of academic qualifications. Additionally, the findings of the study indicated that the quality of the job performance of the government schoolteachers in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate in Sultanate of Oman was average. Besides, there were no statistically significant differences in the sample’s estimates of the quality of the job performance of the government schoolteachers in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate in Sultanate of Oman attributed to the variables of gender, educational qualifications and years of experience. Moreover, the study revealed a positive correlation between the extent to which government school principals practised educational planning skills and the quality of the teachers’ job performance in Ad Dakhiliyah Governorate in Sultanate of Oman. Conclusions: In the light of the findings, a number of recommendations were made, most important of which were holding training workshops for teachers on the diversity of teaching methods, setting a transparent and objective law for the system of promotions and incentives which can lead to job stability, linking the system of promotions and incentives to research, courses and innovative programs in the fields of schoolwork.
