      The article presents a perspective on measuring biomarkers of exposure in target organs. Considerations for using follicular fluid (FF) to measure biomarkers of exposure include time course over which the chemical of interest partition into and are cleared from the ovary, partitioning coefficient for the chemicals, and metabolism of metabolites in the ovarian microenvironment versus systemic metabolism. Challenges in the use of FF are extrapolation to women and lower detection of biomarkers.
