The knowledge level of field training students in Jordanian Universities about autism spectrum disorder and its relationship to some variables.

The study aimed to investigate the knowledge level of autism spectrum disorder among field training students in Jordanian universities, and its relation to sex, university, and cumulative average. The study adopted the descriptive survey approach. The study sample consisted of 163 students from three Jordanian universities (University of Jordan, Mu'tah University, and The Hashemite University). To achieve the purposes of the study, an autism spectrum disorder scale was developed, it consists of 17 items, and its psychometric characteristics were approved. The study results indicated that the field training students' level of knowledge about autism spectrum disorder was mid, and there were no statistically significant differences in the level of knowledge about autism spectrum disorder attributed to cumulative average, sex, and university. Finally, the study recommends including theoretical and practical courses about autism in the special education study plans. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
