Synthesis of N-Benzylidene-N'-(2-chloroquinolin-3-ylmethylene)hydrazine Derivatives and Their Evaluation as Potential Antimicrobial Agents.

A novel series of N-benzylidene-N'-(2-chloroquinolin-3-ylmethylene)hydrazine derivatives have been synthesized and screened for antibacterial and antifungal activity. The results of screening against Gram+ve S. aureus and S. pyogenes and Gram–ve E. coli and P. aeruginosa bacterial strains and C. albicans and A. niger fungal strains showed that the synthesized compounds exhibit moderate activity and hold promise as both antifungal and antibacterial agents, comparing in efficiency with the standard antifungals and antibacterials.
