    • نبذة مختصرة :
This article aims to contribute to discussions around gender relations and digital technologies, bearing in mind the specific case of conversational artificial intelligences and the predominant use of female voices and personalities. To do so, we analyze the personal digital assistants Siri (Apple), Alexa (Amazon), Cortana (Microsoft) and Google Assistant (Google) considering the tasks performed by these devices in the domestic context. We present empirical data on digital assistant Brazilian users' perceptions of gender on these devices, obtained from a quantitative form (n=501) and in-depth interviews (n=14). Based on the analysis, we identified the users' preference for female voices and discussed the main reasons presented by users. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
