The research topic deals with psychological, cultural, social, health, economic and political variables affecting the status and personality of the retiree. تناول الموضوع البحث المتغيرات النفسية، والثقافية، والاجتماعية، والصحية، والاقتصادية، والسياسية المؤثرة في وضع وشخصية المتقاعد. أما أهمية الدراسة فإنها تنطلق من زاوية مهمة هي قلة الدراسات عن هذه الفئة في المجتمع العراقي من جهة، ودراسة أوضاعها من جهة أخرى؛ إذ أصبحت مشكلاتها تشكل قلقا اجتماعيا واسع النطاق في المجتمع، فضلا عما تشكله هذه أوضاع المتقاعدين الصعبة من مخاطر نفسية واجتماعية وثقافية على شخصية المتقاعد وعلى أسرته ومجتمعه، وقد مثل هذا الموضوع أهمية كبيرة في الدراسات الاجتماعية بشكل عام، والانثروبولوجية بشكل خاص نظرا لاهتمام الأخيرة ببنية الإنسان بصفته وحدة اجتماعية متكاملة تتأثر في المتغيرات المختلفة [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
