This article investigates the trajectory of the debate on redistribution and taxation after redemocratization in Brazil, identifying factors potentially favorable to progressive reforms, as well as obstacles to their implementation. Specifically, it aims to understand the resilience of an unfair tax system in one of the most unequal democracies in the world. Following a literature review, some exploratory hypotheses are proposed and analyzed in a preliminary and indirect way through the identification of elements related to inequality and taxation in the political platforms of Brazilian Presidents, from Collor to Bolsonaro. Este artigo se propõe a investigar a trajetória do debate sobre redistribuição e tributação no Brasil no período pós-redemocratização, identificando fatores potencialmente favoráveis a reformas de caráter progressivo, bem como os obstáculos para sua implementação. Portanto, busca-se compreender, especificamente, a resiliência de um sistema tributário injusto em uma das democracias mais desiguais do mundo. A partir da literatura sobre o tema, propõe-se algumas hipóteses exploratórias que são analisadas de forma preliminar e indireta por meio da identificação de elementos sobre desigualdade e reforma tributária nas plataformas dos governos de Collor a Bolsonaro.
