      The article discusses the importance of positive mathematical learning experiences for the development of students' mathematical growth mindset, positive dispositions and identity when learning mathematics. The purpose of this article is to report how Year 6 teachers in Australia used geometric reasoning tasks to foster students' mathematical attitudes and dispositions by encouraging communication as students constructed mathematical meaning for themselves.
