A EDUCAÇÃO AMBIENTAL ENQUANTO ELEMENTO DE CIDADANIA E DIREITOS: REFLEXÕES A PARTIR DA LEGISLAÇÃO.

ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION AS AN ELEMENT OF CITIZENSHIP AND RIGHTS: REFLECTIONS FROM THE LEGISLATION. (English)

Environmental Education is a theme to be developed in basic education since the promulgation of the LDB - Law No. 9394/96, expanding its concept of education, linking the training process to the world of work and the social practice exercised in family relationships, labor, leisure and social life. This theme is present and necessary in contemporary society. Several authors portray Environmental Education as a political, economic, cultural and social issue. Another point often portrayed by the authors is the issue of the need for solid education, which gives the population the capacity for mental articulation to judge and have a critical sense to practice sustainability, both for their economies and for the environment. We conclude, from authors in the area of Education who study the theme, that it is essential that the basic concepts of Environmental Education be worked with students still in Basic Education, as a positive and reflective view on respect for the Environment are elements decisive for building a posture of valuing citizenship and rights, encouraging attitudes and procedures for a necessary behavioral change in the face of the most diverse situations experienced not only in daily school life, but also throughout their lives. A Educação Ambiental é uma temática a ser desenvolvida na educação básica desde a promulgação da LDB – Lei n° 9394/96, expandindo seu conceito de educação, vinculando o processo formativo ao mundo do trabalho e à prática social exercida nas relações familiares, trabalhistas, de lazer e de convivência social. Essa temática se faz presente e necessária perante a sociedade contemporânea. Vários autores retratam a Educação Ambiental como uma questão política, econômica, cultural e social. Outro ponto muito retratado pelos autores está na questão da necessidade de uma educação sólida, que dê à população capacidade de articulação mental para julgar e ter senso crítico para praticar a sustentabilidade, tanto para suas economias como para o meio ambiente. Concluímos, a partir de autores da área de Educação que estudam a temática, que é essencial que os conceitos básicos sobre a Educação Ambiental sejam trabalhados com os alunos ainda na Educação Básica, pois uma visão positiva e reflexiva sobre o respeito ao Meio Ambiente constituem elementos decisivos para se construir uma postura de valoração da cidadania e dos direitos, estimulando atitudes e procedimentos para uma necessária mudança comportamental diante das mais diversas situações vivenciadas não apenas no cotidiano escolar, mas, também, no decorrer de sua vida.
