KUR'ÂN'IN KERÎM SIFATI.

THE ATTRIBUTE "KARĪM" OF THE QUR'ĀN.

The characteristics of the Qur'ān are explained in the verses, sometimes in a few words, sometimes in detail. In different verses, the words "'ajab", "'arabī", "'adhīm", "hakim", "karīm", "majīd", "mubīn", and "dhi'dh-dhikr" are used as attributes of the word Qur'ān itself. In verses 75-77 of Sūrat al-Wāqi'a, Allah swore by the places of the stars and stated that the Qur'ān was the karīm, so that the characterization of a book as karīm is began with the Qur'ān for the first time. Muslims often say "Qur'ān Karīm" when they talk about the Qur'ān as an expression of respect and reverence. The commentators have said different things about the meaning of the attribute "karīm" of the Qur'ān. Because the word "karīm" has many meanings in Arabic. In this article, we tried to determine the meaning of the attribute "karīm" of the Qur'ān. For this purpose, we first explained the meanings of the word "karīm" in Arabic, then we dwelt on the meanings of the attribute "karīm" in the Qur'ān, and finally, we tried to decide by evaluating the comments of the commentators about the meaning of the attribute "karīm" of the Qur'ān. Kur'ân'ın sahip olduğu özellikler Kur'ân'da bazen birkaç kelimeyle, bazen de geniş biçimde açıklanmıştır. Çeşitli âyetlerde Kur'ân kelimesinin sıfatı olarak "'aceb", "'arabî", "'azîm", "hakîm", "kerîm", "mecîd", "mübîn" ve "zi'z-zikr" kelimeleri varit olmuştur. Vâkıa Sûresinin 75-77. âyetlerinde yıldızların mevkilerine yemin edilerek Kur'ân'ın kerîm olduğu söylenmiş, böylece bir kitabın "kerîm" olarak nitelenmesi ilk defa Kur'ân'la başlamıştır. "Kerîm", zamanla Kur'ân'ın en fazla kullanılan sıfatı olmuştur. Zira müslümanlar Kur'ân'dan söz ederken ona saygı ve hürmet göstererek çoğunlukla "Kur'ân-ı Kerîm" derler. Kur'ân'ın "kerîm" sıfatının hangi anlama geldiği hususunda pek çok yorum yapılmıştır. Çünkü "kerîm" lafzının Arap dilinde birçok anlamı olup müfessirler onun anlamında fikir birliği edememişlerdir. Bu makalede Kur'ân'ın "kerîm" sıfatının onun hangi özelliğini ifade ettiği tespit edilmeye çalışılmıştır. Bu maksatla önce "kerîm" lafzının Arap dilindeki anlamları gösterilmiş, ardından "kerîm" sıfatının Kur'ân'da hangi anlamlarda kullanıldığı incelenmiş, son olarak da Kur'ân'ın "kerîm" sıfatının anlamı hakkında müfessirler tarafından yapılan yorumlar ele alınıp değerlendirilerek bir neticeye varılmaya gayret edilmiştir.
