The article reviews the research article which discusses Mutational signatures, imprints of DNA damage, and repair processes of 18,640 cancers, the largest cohort of the whole genome–sequenced samples, has required methodological advances. It mentions the detection of many previously unreported signatures and the establishment of the concept of common and rare signatures. The FitMS algorithm aids users in accurately identifying mutational processes in new samples.
