This is a concise, yet inclusive, synopsis of the history of Hellenic medicine from the prehistoric age to modern years. It is written by Dr Gerasimos Rigatos, a renowned physician with a long tenure in Hellenic medical history, who has faithfully served the Athens Medical Society in various capacities, including publishing its history a few years ago. This book is divided into five sections, corresponding to the ancient, Byzantine and meta-byzantine periods, the modern years and, finally, the 19th and 20th centuries. I found most interesting his references to prominent figures of the 20th Century who shaped modern Hellenic medical history.
