Cox which demonstrate that adipose-resident macrophages directly regulate energy storage in adipocytes through the mammalian platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) PDGFc and its Drosophila melanogaster ortholog, PDGF- and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)-related factor 3 (Pvf3).
