Political Socialization.

“Political socialization” is defined as the process by which political values, beliefs, attitudes, and viewpoints are shaped into an ideological identity. Political socialization is influenced by a number of factors, including family, race, gender, ethnicity, peers, religious affiliation, education, region, social class, age cohort, neighborhoods, media consumption, social movements, economic crises, watershed events, and world events. While political socialization may be stable for many individuals over the course of a lifetime, social scientists recognize that it is more fluid for most people, changing or being mediated in response to life experiences and political and social events.
