  The article discusses the importance of force measurement to meet the requirements of a quality product. Applications linked to product testing of essential goods and supplies include tensile testing and compression testing. To measure tension or compression, a universal test machine and force measurement instrumentation are required. For distance measurement, an integrated encoder or linear scale is used to measure stress, strain and percent elongation.
