Our Equitable Push for Backpacks and Mental Health.

Team DCEvolunteered last summer to fill 750backpacks with free school suppliesand then set them out at our end-of-summeropen houses at each schoolwhere anyone with a need couldsimply grab a backpack and go. No matter the reason, at D.C. Everestwe believe no family should haveto bear the burden of proving it is infinancial distress to get financial assistanceto obtain school supplies, participatein an extracurricular activity,compete in a sport or access learningmaterials or mental health services. Finally, Team DCE joined theUnited Way Partnership for Youth tolaunch an initiative that ensures allstudents, not just at-risk students,can access mental health services attheir school and that students havecontinuity of care as they advancethrough our school system.
