Integration of Spirituality in Health Care: Theoretical-Epistemological Considerations. (English)

This essay aims to understand the genesis and the models of healthcare education whose apex is the biopsychosocial-spiritual model. For this purpose, a historical and theoretical incursion was carried out, based on the method of 'open materialistic realism', and on authors who believe that the relationship between health-illness care is an answer to people's historical and social needs. The article also presents the epistemological values of the different assistance/care models, which led to the biopsychosocial-spiritual one. It concludes by presenting the Interdisciplinary Spiritual Care model as a feasible theoretical and practical proposal for the effective inclusion of spirituality in healthcare. Este ensaio tem como objetivo compreender a gênese e a formação dos modelos de cuidado em saúde que culminaram com a proposição do modelo biopsicossocioespiritual. Para tanto, realiza-se uma incursão histórico-teórica por meio do método do realismo materialista aberto e de autores que consideram que a relação saúde-doença-cuidado surge como uma resposta às necessidades histórico- -sociais das populações. São apresentados os princípios epistemológicos que constituíram os modelos de assistência/cuidado que culminam com a proposição do modelo biopsicossocioespiritual. Conclui-se o estudo apresentando os princípios do Cuidado Espiritual Interdisciplinar como uma proposta teórico/prática viável para a efetiva integração da espiritualidade nos cuidados em saúde.
