Two new coordination polymers (CPs) namely, [Ag(bipp)(pc)]n (1, bipp = bis(4-pyridyl) propane, Hpc = 2-pyridinecarboxylic acid) and [Cu2(btb)(CN)](NO3)(H2O)2 (2, btb = 4, 4-bis(1, 2,4-triazolyl-1-yl)-biphenyl) were synthesized by using the ligand-directed approach based on different N-donor ligands. The phase purities of the two CPs were confirmed via the power X-day diffraction analysis (PXRD) and their molecular structures were determined by the single crystal X-ray diffraction (SCXRD) studies. In connection to these, the as-prepared two nanostructures were tested for their in vitro anticancer activities against three human ovarian cancer cell lines (A2780, Hey and H9) via the MTT assay, which revealed that the Ag(I)-based nanostructure 1 showed better anticancer activity than that of the Cu(I)-based nanostructure 2.
