This study analyzes the behavior of women during the Guerra de la Independencia based on the reading and examination of ten novels that make up the first series of the Episodios Nacionales. Galdós, a history writer who was before his time, does not hesitate to offer an ample picture of the women in this bloody and complex war, and gives unequivocal proof of his exquisite ability to reproduce any aspect of the reality of a specific time in history. En el presente trabajo se analiza el comportamiento de las mujeres durante la Guerra de la Independencia a partir de la lectura y estudio de las diez novelas que configuran la primera serie de los Episodios Nacionales. Galdós, adelantándose a la historiografía de su época, no duda en ofrecer un amplio cuadro de la actuación de las mujeres en esta cruenta y compleja guerra, dando inequívoca prueba de su exquisita capacidad de reproducir cualquier aspecto de la realidad de una época histórica concreta.
