The Dengue virus infection is a global public health problem. The city of Cali, Colombia has hyperendemic transmission. However despite the epidemic behavior in 2013, there's no published associations with the morbidity and mortality of the disease during this outbreak. In this article, we report two cases of dengue mortality associated with sickle cell anemia, which has a prevalence of 5-8% in the Colombian Pacific Coast. Although chronic diseases such as sickle cell anemia are considered as a risk factor for the development of severe dengue, few cases have been reported. The health systems should develop clinical practice guidelines and public policies for the proper management of these patients in regions where the incidence and prevalence of the two entities are high.
