      This paper analyses the news values used by Journalism students of Universidade Federal de Ouro Preto (UFOP) in producing the news published in the studentexperimental newspaper Lampião. To accomplish this, we resort to concepts of the gatekeeping theory, as to contextualize the news choices made by the students/journalists. We also resort to the criteria established by Nelson Traquina, to evaluate the events around their importance or interest as news. This way, we try to deduce that, in the first 20 produced and published Lampião‟s editions, students had promoted the commitment to fulfill the social responsibility aimed byjournalism, and had matured as experimental-laboratory vehicle, according to the news values of the content they publish.       Este artigo analisa os valores-notícia empregados pelos estudantes de Jornalismo da Universidade Federal de Ouro Preto (UFOP) na produção das notícias publicadas no jornallaboratório Lampião. Para isso, recorre a conceitos da teoria de gatekeeper , de maneira a contextualizar as escolhas noticiosas que os jornalistas/alunos realizaram; e aos critérios estabelecidos por Nelson Traquina, para avaliar os acontecimentos em terno da sua importância ou interesse como notícia. Dessa forma, buscamos concluir que em 20 edições já produzidas doLampião, os estudantes tenham fomentado o compromisso de cumprir com a responsabilidade social almejada pelo jornalismo, e amadurecido enquanto veículo experimental-laboratorial, segundo a noticiabilidade do conteúdo que publicam.
