      The whitefly Trialeurodes vaporariorum is one of the main pests of horticultural crops due to that adult and immature insects suck sap from the leaves it weakening plants and hindering the normal development of the fruits. In this work the lethal and sublethal effects of commercial neem seed extract Bioneem® was studied in the population growth of the whitefly T. vaporariorum under laboratory conditions. Lethal effects were estimated through test of acute toxicity with obtaining dose-response curves and their respective lethal and sublethal concentrations effects through the estimate of the instantaneous rate of population growth (ri). The lethal and sublethal concentrations of Bioneem® for T. vaporariorum was 1,86 and 0,89% of product, respectively, indicating that it could be used to control of the pest. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

      La mosca blanca Trialeurodes vaporariorum es una de las principales plagas de cultivos hortícolas debido a que los adultos e inmaduros succionan la savia de las hojas, lo que debilita las plantas e impide el desarrollo normal de los frutos. En este trabajo fue estudiado en laboratorio los efectos letales y subletales del extracto comercial de semillas de nim Bioneem® en el crecimiento poblacional de la mosca blanca T. vaporariorum. Los efectos letales fueron estimados a través de test de toxicidad aguda con obtención de curvas dosis-respuesta y sus respectivas concentraciones letales, y los efectos subletales a través de la estimativa de la tasa instantánea de crecimiento poblacional (ri). Las concentraciones letales y subletales del Bioneem® para T. vaporariorum fueron 1,86 y 0,89% del producto, respectivamente, lo que indica que podría utilizarse para el control de la plaga.
