      The authors discuss the annual global event, World Kidney Day, which is sponsored by the International Federation of Kidney Foundations and the International Society of Nephrology (ISN) which highlights on how much adult kidney disease occurs in childhood and in the developing fetus. The authors mention kidney disease as a major public health problem that increases the risk for many other conditions and is related with diabetes and heart infections. The risk of chronic kidney disease is cited.
