Clinical research in occupational therapy: development and application of a research project. (English)

Evidence-based practice is a demand to all service providers in the health care system and a challenge for health care professions. Following the increasing academization in German occupational therapy, there is a good opportunity to actively participate in research. The paper gives an overview about several steps within the research process from developing an idea, the search for a suitable funding source up to the drafting of a research bid. The presentation is oriented at the demands of clinical research projects. The paper focuses on both formal and practical issues (research funding, ethical issues, time schedules, and budgets), as well as on methodological issues (formation of hypotheses, operationalizing criteria, developing a research design). In addition, different forms of service user involvement are discussed with respect to the entire research process. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Evidenzbasierung ist eine Forderung an alle Leistungserbringer im Gesundheitswesen und eine besondere Herausforderung für Gesundheitsfachberufe. Durch die zunehmende Akademisierung der deutschen Ergotherapie besteht verstärkt die Möglichkeit, aktiv an der Forschung mitzuwirken. Dieser Beitrag gibt einen Überblick über die verschiedenen Schritte von der Entwicklung einer Forschungsidee über die Suche nach passenden Finanzierungsoptionen bis hin zur Ausarbeitung eines Projektantrags, orientiert an klinischen Forschungsvorhaben. Neben der Entwicklung einer Forschungsidee stehen insbesondere formale und praktische (Forschungsförderung, ethische Aspekte, Zeit- und Finanzplanung) sowie methodische Fragen (Hypothesenbildung, Operationalisierung von Zielkriterien, Entwicklung eines Forschungsdesigns) im Vordergrund. Darüber hinaus wird auch auf die verschiedenen Beteiligungsformen Betroffener an dem gesamten Forschungsprozess eingegangen. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
