The article provides information on geography, economy and social and political conditions of the Central African Republic. On November 2, 2002, the U.S. Embassy in Bangui suspended operations in the country. There is no U.S. diplomatic or consular representation in the Central African Republic. The geographical area of the country is around 622,984 sq. km. Its capital city is Bangui. The country's terrain is a rolling plain, about 600 meters-700 meters above sea level with scattered hills in northeast and southwest. The country's constitution was passed by referendum on December 29, 1994 and was adopted in January 1995.
