The Psychometric Properties of the Turkish Version of Revised 2011-Osteoporosis Knowledge Test. (English)

Objective: The aim of this study was to translate the revised 2011-Osteoporosis Knowledge test (R-OKT) into Turkish and to assess its reliability. Materials and Methods: After the translation process, the study was performed with healthy volunteers who accepted to participate in the study. Demographic features, level of nutrition and physical activity were recorded. Participants were fulfilled the R-OKT. Cronbach-α was calculated for internal consistency, intraclass correlation coefficient was calculated for test-retest reliability by using two tests fulfilled with 2 days interval. Validation study was performed by Spearman's correlation between nutrition and exercise subscales of R-OKT with calcium intake and level of physical activity. Results: The study was carried out with 82 participants with a mean age of 41.3±12.6 years. Cronbach-α values for the nutrition subscale, exercise subscale and total score was found as 0.71, 0.76 and 0.76, respectively. Test-retest reliability was calculated above 0.90 for both of the subscales and total score. When R-OKT subscales were compared with calcium intake and exercise level in daily living, significant relationship was found between R-OKT nutrition subscale and the level of calcium intake. Conclusion: Turkish version of R-OKT is a reliable scale to assess the level of osteoporosis knowledge. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı 2011 yılında revize edilen Osteoporoz Bilgi Testi'nin (OBT) Türkçe’ye çevrilmesi ve Türkçe ölçeğin güvenilirliğini göstermektir. Gereç ve Yöntem: Çalışma testin Türkçe’ye çevrilmesi işlemini takiben, çalışmaya katılmayı kabul eden gönüllülerle gerçekleştirildi. Demografik özellikler, beslenme ve fizik aktivite düzeyleri kaydedildi. Katılımcılar revize OBT'yi doldurdular. Skalanın iç tutarlılığını değerlendirmek için Cronbach-α, test-retest güvenilirliği için iki gün ara ile doldurulan skalalar arasındaki sınıf içi korelasyon katsayısı hesaplandı. Ayrıca çalışma grubunun bilgi düzeyleri ve davranış şekillerinin birbiri ile uyumunu saptamak amacıyla OBT'nin beslenme alt grubunun kalsiyum alma düzeyi, egzersiz alt grubunun fiziksel aktivite düzeyi ile korelasyonu araştırıldı. Bulgular: Çalışma yaş ortalaması 41,3±12,6 olan 82 katılımcı ile yapıldı. Cronbach-α değerleri beslenme, egzersiz alt grupları ve toplam skor için sırasıyla 0,71, 0,76 ve 0,76 bulundu. Test-retest güvenilirliği alt gruplar ve toplam skorda 0,90'ın üzerinde tespit edildi. OBT skorlarının günlük yaşamda kalsiyum alımı ve fizik aktivite düzeyi ile ilişkisine bakıldığında kalsiyum alım miktarı OBT'nin beslenme alt grubu ile korele bulundu. Sonuç: Revize OBT'nin Türkçe versiyonu osteoporoz bilgi düzeyini ölçmek için kullanılabilecek güvenilir bir ölçektir. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
