A flooring plant in Georgia will use landfill gas to fuel two heaters and a boiler which is believed to be the first for the carpet industry in the U.S. Interface Flooring Systems Inc. said the switch to landfill gas will enable it to cut natural gas consumption at its plant in Kyle, Georgia by 20 per cent. By turning waste into fuel for the manufacturing process, the company is eliminating harmful emissions and increasing the use of renewable energy. The project joins the flooring company with a landfill owned by the city of LaGrange, which will build a methane gas collection system to deliver methane to Interface's plant about 10 miles away in Kyle.
