THE PREFACE TO 1-TO-1: GETTING WI-FI RIGHT.

The article discusses factors to be considered by school districts to ensure adequate broadband connectivity specifically, high-speed Wireless-Fidelity (Wi-Fi), at all of their campuses. The basic wireless platform in school districts is suggested to be transformed into a robust implementation capable of handling assessment testing, streaming video, blending learning and bring-your-own-device (BYOD). To do so, steps are enumerated which include reducing the amount of time information technology (IT) spends managing the wireless network, automating student provisioning and application management and accommodating and welcoming BYOD.
