International audience ; Professional identity is a component of a person's overall identity, and originates in work organizations (Perez-Roux, 2011) as well as in an individual developmental dynamic (Lannegrand-Willems, 2014). The question concerns the contrastive nature of the processes and dynamics involved in this identity development, considering that culture "gives form to the mind" (Bruner, 1996), all the more so as certain fields of research remain uninvestigated, particularly among people with disabilities.Initial surveys carried out in Mayotte show that orientation towards vocational training is strongly accentuated by their discovery internships in the third year of secondary school (Lefer Sauvage and Mercier, 2021). Adolescents face strong societal tensions regarding their role and status (Morano, 2023; Blanchy, 1980) and a deleterious insertion context (Insee, 2019).What's more, the professional gestures constructed in training are sometimes far removed from the context of the company and students' daily lives: what sense does it make to work on a kitchen robot if the word doesn't exist in the local language, and if the robot is never a working tool outside the vocational high school? These elements are a reminder that Mayotte's education system is designed to "catch up" with the Hexagon, with adaptations at the margins, but without transforming the overall system, and that it is underpinned by two conceptions of the French nation and Republic (Dimier, 2005), between assimilationist and centralizing versus inclusive and empowering. Welcoming diversity, without excluding it, has become a major challenge.Based on work on the professional identity of teachers (Perez-Roux, 2014), particularly specialized teachers (Perez-Roux, 2016), and on instrumental genesis (Rabardel, 1995), the methodology consists of a cross between an experiment in a vocational high school conducted around a video montage on a touch tablet, and an ethnographic field survey.Starting from the point of view and lived experience of ...
