نبذة مختصرة : Gender-based violence (GBV) is a critical issue that affects the lives of young people in the Caribbean and globally. This article documents a methodology for using spoken word and theatre in GBV prevention work with adolescents in the Caribbean. We discuss a series of participatory activities involving young people aged 11–17, and reflect on the co-creation of a play script and teaching resource. Our findings show that the use of culturally grounded and culturally relevant methodologies in arts-based GBV prevention work can enhance peer learning among adolescents. We argue that such methodologies require a collaborative and participatory process.
