نبذة مختصرة : Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is currently one of the leading causes of increased morbidity and mortality worldwide. This condition negatively affects the quality of life of the sufferers. Therefore, a more effective therapeutic management strategy is needed, one of which is through a self-management approach, such as increasing self-efficacy and self-care activities. This study aims to examine the relationship between self-efficacy and self-care activities with quality of life in COPD patients. This study used a cross-sectional design involving 150 participants who had been diagnosed with COPD. The instruments used included the CSES (COPD Self-Efficacy Scale), SGRQ (St. George's Respiratory Questionnaire), and WHOQOL-BREF (World Health Organization Quality of LifeBREF) questionnaires. Data were analysed using the Chi-Square test. The results showed that most COPD patients at Labuang Baji Hospital Makassar had a low level of self-efficacy (82%) and a low level of self-care activities (80.7%). In conclusion, low self-efficacy is directly proportional to low self-care activities, which ultimately have an impact on reducing quality of life. With a p value <0.05, it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between self-efficacy and self-care activities on the quality of life of COPD patients.
