Technical epidemiological nexus and social security benefits due to occupational accidents

Objective: describe the social security benefits for occupational accident of typical and path nature in the city of Salvador and its metropolitan area, in two distinct periods, before and after the adoption of the Technical Epidemiological Nexus and Social Security to estimate the contribution of the adoption of such systems to record accidents of work in the ambit of the Social Security. Method: it is descriptive and epidemiological study, which was conducted with all employees who are part of the General Regime of Social Security in Brazil. The social security benefits of the types related to accidents (B91) with regard to the work injuries were defined as cases. The secondary data sources consulted were the National Health Information Benefits, the Synchronized National Register of the Ministry of Finance and the General Register of Employed and Unemployed. It was estimated cumulative annual incidence rate specific for temporary disability due to occupational accidents of typical and path nature, in the period before and after the adoption of Technical Epidemiological Nexus and Social Security. Results: indicate that after adoption of the Technical Epidemiological Nexus and Social Security, there was an increase in frequency, proportion and specific annual cumulative incidence for temporary disability due to occupational accidents and typical way. Conclusion: the adoption of the Nexus Technical Epidemiological Social Security could mean a breakthrough for the notification of occupational accidents in Brazil.
