Health education on sexually transmitted diseases with adolescents: a case report

Objective: to report our experience about actions of health education for adolescents, focusing on the thematic about sexuality and prevention of Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD) / Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS). Method: a descriptive study, of the type of experience reporting on the activities of the Extension Project "Adolescer no Apodi: Education and Prevention at the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Rio Grande do Norte - Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia do Rio Grande do Norte (IFRN)", conducted between February and October 2010. Students of both sexes, between 13 and 19 years, participated in the project. There were 16 workshops of one hour-standard, each one, with an average of 30 pupils in the morning and afternoon shifts. Workshops were performed, taking as a principle, educational technology, which facilitates the sharing of content on the prevention of STD / HIV / AIDS, as well as group and participatory activities to a public composed of adolescents. Results: we observed the participation of adolescents in the dynamics proposed in the workshops, from the production of posters, drawings, brochures and pamphlets related to the approached topics. Conclusion: the execution of the workshops provided the richest space for learning, not only for the public that we intend to achieve, but also for their authors, who acted as facilitators in the teaching-learning process.
