A good teacher in the healthcare area: an integrative review ; O bom professor na área da saúde: uma revisão integrativa

Objective: to analyze the characteristics of a good professor of higher education in the healthcare area in the light of the knowledge base referential for the teaching of Shulman. Method: integrative review performed from original articles, theses and dissertations published between 1996 and 2010 in the LILACS database and the Database of Theses and Dissertations of CAPES. From the 164 studies, seven met the criteria, which were analyzed according to the knowledge base. Results: three categories were developed: 1) Good personal characteristics, 2) Good pedagogical characteristics and, 3) Good relational characteristics. Conclusion: Good teachers have a good pedagogical approach, good interpersonal relationship, stimulate the autonomy of students and demonstrate personal qualities such as punctuality and organization. There was similarity between the description of the characteristics of teachers of various professions in the area of health care and these express the relevance of Shulman's theoretical framework for teacher training. RESUMO Objetivo: analisar as características do bom professor de ensino superior na área da saúde a luz do referencial do conhecimento base para o ensino de Shulman. Método: revisão integrativa realizada a partir de artigos originais, dissertações e teses publicados entre 1996 e 2010 na base de dados LILACS e no Banco de Teses e Dissertações da CAPES. Dos 164 estudos sete atenderam os critérios e foram analisados de acordo com o conhecimento base. Resultados: três categorias foram elaboradas: 1) Boas características pessoais, 2) Boas características pedagógicas e, 3) Boas características relacionais. Conclusão: bons professores têm boa abordagem pedagógica, boa relação interpessoal, estimulam a autonomia dos estudantes e demonstram qualidades pessoais como pontualidade e organização.
