    • نبذة مختصرة :
In general, youth issues pertaining to Muslim Malay youth have often been used as narratives in the filmography of Ahmad Idham. The representation of this subject matter is typically framed around their modern lifestyle and its social, moral consequences. Ahmad Idham however, has been suggested to be only interested in making films which are considered too cliché from social and moral perspective. This study has selected two films Syurga Cinta (2009) and Aku Masih Dara (2010) to critically examine the argument above in detailed discussions based on Stuart Hall’s Representation Theory (1997). Our study used film critical discourse analysis and in-depth interview method with the filmmaker. The findings suggest that the director Ahmad Idham has been constructing his subject of representation in order to unveil the Muslim Malay youth as a critical reflection of the roles of parents and the society at large. In the final analysis, the selected films on Muslim Malay youths demonstrate the importance of the elements of adolescent psychology and causal logic in the representation of this subject matter.
